Sanford, Maine, USA; 1990s

Name: Elijah

Date of Sighting: 1990’s

Location of Sighting: Sanford, ME

Shape(s) of UFO(s): Hexagon (1) “shooting stars” (2)

Color(s) of UFO(s): Red-orange / white

Number of UFO(s): 3

Further Description of Sighting: I’m 28 years old now, this sighting happened when I was younger, I’ve just rarely ever spoken about it, so the exact date or even year I’m not sure about, but I guess it was in the mid-late 90’s.

I have no reason to make anything up like this, and even though it happened over a decade ago, I still remember it as vividly and clearly today as when it happened back then, because I knew what I was seeing wasn’t “natural” so the vividness has remained… I was with my grandparents and younger sister.

We were on our way to go grocery shopping in Sanford. We weren’t far from the airport. I was sitting behind the driver’s seat, just staring out of the window up at the sky. We were riding in old Cutlass station wagon, the kind with the really big window in the back. I saw what I believed at the moment was a shooting star zipping overhead.

It was white, almost silvery-white, because the light was so intense. I yelled excitedly, “I just saw a shooting star!” No one else saw it or had any reaction to my exclamation. The “star” was traveling in the opposite direction of our vehicle, but straight on the same path as the road, not away from the road nor coming towards it nor veering off one way or the other–straight on the same path as the road.

After I told them what I saw, I turned my body around and looked out of the big window in the back of the station wagon. My jaw dropped. To my surprise, a huge orange object was hovering, or gliding, above the road. If it was moving at that moment, it couldn’t have been moving fast.

It looked like it was just sitting up there in the sky. And it was dark, late-dusk, some time just after sunset. But I was confused, so I asked my family, “Is the sun still up?” Which they replied, word for word, “No. The sun went down a while ago.” Then I knew I saw something.

So I turned my head back around to the big window in the back and said softly to myself, “Then what is THAT?” Glaring at the huge orange object, I was intrigued and yet scared. I turned my head back and once again looked out my own side window, looked up, and saw once more another shooting star.

Two shooting stars in the same spot in the sky both traveling in the same direction in one night within just moments of each other? They both flew toward “it,” the big object. They weren’t shooting stars, they were unidentified flying objects.

I know someone else must have seen something that night, and it would be cool to get a chance to hear of other eye-witness accounts, I’m just disappointed I let so much time go by with out looking for answers sooner. -Elijah

Further Description of Sighting: I thought at first it was the moon in a partial eclipse, as i began to make my turn west in my vehicle i noticed that it seemed to be slowly moving north, i followed the road north to see better and it seemed to be floating much like a parachute to the right, then to the left. It was always just ahead of me, then turned sharply to the west and disappeared into the trees. I followed the road to try and cut it off, but could make no further sighting.
