What did the UFO look like, shape/size in relation to terrestrial objects/lights/colour :

Difficult to judge size and true shape of UFO (it appeared to be round)due to it’s height, however it was silver and shiny, slightly obscurred by a surrounding cloud(the sky was perfectly clear.)

Did the UFO do any strange things like hover and then zoom off quickly :

The UFO was simply resting in the sky, there were also 3 jets in what was otherwise a completely clear blue sky, the jets were attempting to reach the UFO’s position (again, due to the height of these jets i couldn’t make there types, only there jet streams was clearly visible). As the jets reached the area of the UFO it simply disappeared (not instantly, rather it faded out) and then reappeared again in another part of the sky, the jets would then turn and again head for the UFO’s new position, this event occured numerous times before the UFO disappeared completely and the jets then headed off in different directions.

Any additional comments :

My father first witnessed these events whilst walking home from the pub on Xmas day (my dad is totally sceptical of UFO’s and such things – until one lands on my lawn etc.). He came into the house and asked me to come outside and check out what was going on, I admit I do have a strong interest in the UFO phenomenon (since being a child) and have read a lot of literature on the subject. The point I’m trying to make, if it was just myself who had seen it then i would of told no-one(no credibility), however my dad witnessed the event also, he could not explain rationally what was going on (although he is still sceptical). Anyone who knows my father knows that he is as straight as the day is long and would not sensationalise anything.
