Message: I live in Hermosa Beach, on Hermosa Avenue, close to the water. I saw the same thing you described, it was last night, August 22. Other people were witnessing it with me, and I talk to a friend at work who saw it also, he was further away on Pier avenue. But this round, or ring shaped object was right above my apartment but high up.

It was blue and changed color to green, and had a red light in the middle, which wasn’t always visible. It hung around for about 30 minutes, moving erratically. Definitely nothing I’ve seen before, I couldn’t identify it.

Message: I went outside to take my dogs out before closing up for the evening. That night, the sky was partially cloudy but the cieling level (visibility) was quite high. While facing south (since that was the direction my dogs head to to do their business), the pulsing light of a star caught my attention…

The pulse seemed more like one long throb and so I looked up and quickly found that the light I had seen was easily 3 hand-widths above my visible horizon and was not a light coming from ‘space’ (like an actual star).

The light got VERY bright white, then quickly faded out. I stood there thinking it seemed different than planes coming head-on from the south (direction of CA) and actually higher than what would be the norm for incoming jets.

About 5-10 seconds later, the light re-appeared aproximately 2-3 fingers in width to the left of where it started from. From there, it moved incredibly slowly, moving from it’s southern location, towards the north. While watching it, the light continued to fade in and out.

Every time the single light faded out, it would re-appear in a slight different spot and at a slightly different angle than the direction it would be going while remaining lit.

At the light’s smallest, it would look like the standard glow that a satelite would give off as it moved across the sky. At the light’s brightest, it would look like a candle flame.

What was really strange was that about a week prior, both my wife and I had taken our dogs out at around that same time, and I had seen the same light, but it did not re-appear. I just dismissed the incident as a mere fluke, or possibly a shooting-star coming in at a more direct angle as opposed to streaking across the sky.

But on 8-7-2008, I watched that light for almost a half-hour…moving incredibly slowly from the original point I had scene it, to move north about 2 hand-lengths before it simply turned off and was visible no longer.

Since I live parallel to incoming planes, when they come in at night, the lights they have are multi-colored as well as having 2-6 total lights. When they are coming in from the south with the intention to land at PDX, they seem to come in above the visible horizon at about one hand wide…2 tops, before making an easterly turn, which takes them from about the Keizer/Wilsonville air-space to the Clackamas/Estacada air-space, then over Larch Mountain before making a direct bee-line into PDX for a landing. I’ve lived in this area for 20 years…and I’ve seen this general flight pattern day after day.

Now, since I’ve seen this light TWICE…within a week…I want to know what the heck it is. It was not a plane, nor a satellite, and it was not a helicopter. It was higher than the clouds, but not in what I would consider ‘space’. If it was in ‘space’ then I would be inclined to say the object would be huge if that were the case.

I’ve had the opportunity to see rocket launch, the shuttle land, and satellites fall to earth…not to mention some awsome meteor related displays…but I’ve never seen a ‘light’ like that.

If anyone can shed some light, let me know.

Thank you!

Message: After returning home from the Indiana State Fair — my daughter (12 yrs. old) saw something that at first she thought was a helicopter going very, very fast. And she stated how she had never seen one going that fast. I told her maybe in was from the Hospital going to an accident. At a stoplight I saw what she had seen and it was not looking like a plane or any helicopter I had ever seen — it went from South and headed East — really fast.

A short time later, it seemed to just disappear – we saw another one come in from the East and then it went really up high and out of view. After parking when we were home — my daugher saw it again, only this time it was maybe 500 ft. above tree level — it was so large looking — like a platform and a rectangular shape with some lights around it that blinked and it made absolutely no noise at all — that was very unusual to both of us. During this sighting it was going really slow — just above a hover and it had no wings at all.

My daughter asked me if it was a UFO and I said, “Well, it is to us, as it is flying and we cannot identify it”. She thought she saw it again tonight (8/16/08) — way up high in the sky and going very, very fast (around the same time) — I did not see it this time as when she spotted it I did not look up quickly enough to notice it. It was pretty strange — first time I think that I’ve really ever seen anything I couldn’t explain. We don’t have video’s or pictures.

Message: I was lying in bed, trying to force myself to get up. I was looking out the window, and I saw three sets of what looked like headlights floating by, as though they were in a convoy. They were not bright, and caused no reflection or light movement inside the room, as a car’s headlights would do. Each orb-shaped light had a haze around it, but I couldn’t make out an actual object. They moved in pairs, one pair behind the other, moving towards my house, hence my description of “headlights.” I saw them for about 10 seconds, as they passed in front of my house and out of sight of me.

They moved fairly slowly, my best guess being that they were traveling about as fast as a car moving at about 15-20mph. The burnt orange orbs appeared to be about the size of tennis balls from where I saw them, and they were just above the tree line along the road that passes in front of my house, about 120 yards in distance from my house, but they did not seem to get larger as they moved towards my house. I have no idea what they were or what they could have been, hence “unidentified flying object.” Just an odd occurrence.

I honestly didn’t think much of it at the time, except that it was strange, until my neighbor asked later in the morning if I saw anything that was odd at about that time earlier in the morning. Apparently, they saw it also, but wouldn’t say what they saw or fully admit to seeing anything (that is why I said I was the only witness).
