Gardner, Kansas, USA; 1976

Name: Debbie M.

Date of Sighting: early evening 1976 or 1977

Location of Sighting: hwy 56, between Edgerton and Gardner, KS

Shape(s) of UFO(s): extremely large glowing ball

Color(s) of UFO(s): looked like a full moon with colors

Number of UFO(s): one

Distance of UFO(s) in sky: looked like it would crash in field, than vanished

Direction of Travel for UFO(s): coming downward

Further Description of Sighting: My first thought was it was like the moon coming down in the field, by the huge size(larger than a hot air balloon-only perfectly round) and it was glowing. I thought it was going to crash, but then it vanished.

I never forgot about it, to this day. I was too embarrassed to report it. Was wondering if anyone else ever seen this besides me. I don’t know that it was a weather balloon.

In the fall of 1976 approximately 9 p.m myself and four friends were walking across a field heading south in Overland Park Kansas when we looked in the sky saw a bright white round object moving across the sky going west to east moving pretty fast at first we thought it was an airplane but there was no green or red lights and as I said moving too fast. then we saw an airplane from the North heading south and it was flashing its Landing lights on and off as to warn the object. At that time I turn to look at the UFO Moon color Ball heading east and it shot straight into the sky disappearing. It was very obvious the airplane had seen it also. that was forty years ago I can’t remember the exact day or month but I will never forget what I saw that night.
