A friend and I also saw UFOs fitting this description.  A bright whitish/bluish, pulsating object, that appeared to be stationary.  I described it as behaving like a dragonfly in the way that it appeared to move about. My friend described it as, “jittery”. There are stars “sparkling”, and then there’s “jittering”. Even so, we considered our eyes playing tricks on us, as it is a common physiological experience.

It was about 1:00 a.m. PDT, on 6/7/2010 near downtown San Jose, CA.  The weather was relatively cool with few clouds above.  It was otherwise very clear with good visibility.  The UFO seemed stationary at first, appearing to be a star or some other distant, celestial body. After noticing apparent, though indistinct movement, our natural inclination was for further scrutiny. Our presumption changed, reconciling that object to be a satellite. The movements became very apparent, however, once it went from one section of the sky to another, and then in a different direction. It never darted or traveled a path that resembled any sort of figure in the sky.  The movement was subtle, but obvious.  Additionally, more of these “satellites” appeared. There were at least 8 of these lights in the sky. The satellite presumption was quickly laid to rest once we saw at least 3 or more in the same, general vicinity.  It then dawned on me that these were too bright to be satellites and more so that they were moving about behind, and in front of what clouds were in the sky.

The brightest of them were in a triangular formation.  Though this is a common sort of theme with UFOs, this did not appear to be 3 lights coming from one object, as the lights separated into different directions.  Once again, the manner in which the formation of 3 lights traveled was in a very subtle but obvious nature.  The distance seemed to have ranged from about 15,000 ft to no more than 10 miles.  I did not perceive the relative distance to have been greater than beyond the stratosphere as I gaze at the incoming and outbound aircraft on a daily basis, living so close to San Jose Airport.  As for the shape, it appeared to be an “orb”, though it seemed to have streaks of light on either side that flared out of opposite ends which change in hue as it moved from whitish, to bluish, to reddish.  This may have been some form of chromatic aberration, though I am not too familiar with this phenomenon and cannot speak with great confidence on it.  The streaks did change direction and at times disappeared, which indicated to me, considering chromatic aberration, that the object itself was moving in such a way that different sides of it were facing my line of sight.  The eeriest thing about the whole experience was that there was a sudden build up of dense cloud cover over the region of sky that was being observed.  I am not familiar with weather patterns, but to go from relatively clear to not seeing much dark sky at all in a matter of about 5 to 10 minutes, and just in our general area of observable sky…was very eerie.  This is strictly an observation verging on fantasy, but it seemed as if the objects were creating a cover. Perhaps someone versed in meteorology can explain it and dispel my suspicions.

Lastly, shortly after the sightings, an aircraft appeared seeming to land at San Jose Airport.  It was flying very low, yet very fast.  The engine noise did not seem typical of a private jet, which I considered first due to the size of the craft.  I spent 4 years at a naval air station where f-18 super hornets are constantly flying about as well as currently living in close proximity to the airport where large commercial and private jets are constantly flying overhead. The engine noise was fairly loud and distinct. Not like a fighter plane, not like a commercial aircraft. It sounded close, but no cigar to be had. This aircraft was distinctly of human origin, with very distinct light patterns. Not odd, but noticeably bright. It appeared to be flying back and forth as if patrolling the sky, flying not more than about 5000 feet in elevation. It did this for about 45 minutes. It was small in size, like that of a private jet, and flew very fast and very low, near an airport that closes before midnight due a city ordinance prohibiting late night landings or take offs of aircraft of a certain sizes. I’m not sure what the criteria is, but if it is in place due to noise restriction, this plane would have been cited; perhaps we can chalk it up to Larry Ellison.

About one and a half hours into the whole experience, the clouds dissipated, almost as quickly as they came…and along with it, the UFOs.
