Further Description of Sighting: Me and my dad witnessed these 3 shapes around 01:50. One after the other all going in the same direction and travelling at the same speed.

I got a look at them through binoculars, they seemed to be orange in colour with a brighter orange ball at the end of it. It took about five minutes in total for the three shapes to pass through the sky.

They all reached the same part of the sky and disappeared. Its good to know i wasnt the only one to witness this

I live in a small town in Angus, Scotland called Forfar and on the afternoon of the 2/01/2010 I saw a bright Orange sphere pass my window, it was going quite fast and i got a video of this as it disapeared into the sky. It took me by surprise and like most people seeing these similar sightings in my area over the past few days i have come accross alot of  ‘Chinese Lantern’ explenations, this was not what i saw i’m sure of it and if there is anybody else in my area has seen the same thing as me at the same time it would be great to hear their side of the story. What i find very interesting is that there has been many sightings in and around the UK over the past few days, how can they all be ‘Chinese Lanterns’?

Hi,  I spotted three orange spheres whilst in Whitburn West Lothian.  They suddenly appeared in the west at about 18.00 on the 1st January.  They appeared one at a time, moved eastwards at the same speed and then appeared to move higher before disappearing.  At one point the three objects were visible but did exactly the same thing as they each reached the same part nof the night sky.   Approximately one hour later, another orange object appeared,. this time in the north east.  It moved in exactly the same way as the previous three objects, and again appeared to move fast high into the sky.  I should also mention that at the time  timeof the initial sighting,  there appeared to be a lot of aircraft activity andalso a helicopter in the south west.

Hi. I am so glad to have read your email from Whitburn. On Boxing Day evening about 5pm my partner and I went to Linlithgow to feed the birds. It was quite foggy and very icy. I don’t know why but I looked up and I saw 4 orangey red balls/spheres in the sky,all moving at the same speed. One by one they disappeared into the fog. They did not flash or make any sound. I know this was not aeroplanes or helicopters. They were traveling too close to each other to be. I was spooked but decided to forget about it.
On Wednesday evening past my daughter and I were travelling home from work in Edinburgh and we both saw 1 orange/red sphere in the sky. Again no flashing just slow consistent movement. We could not explain this.
Then on Saturday night 23rd Jan ’10 The spookiest yet. Again I was travelling home from work to Whitburn on the M8. My attention was caught by a bright orange light over Broxburn. I looked away and thought no it can’t be. I looked straight back and there was 2. 1 slightly higher than the other travelling slowly over Broxburn but they looked really low. I will admit I was pertrified. I am sure someone else out there must have seen this. 3 times in less than a month. What is going on??? Can anyone give me any explanations?? There is something going on. This is 100% genuine.

I live in the Blantyre area of Lanarkshire and since 1st Jan 2010 myself husband and daughter have seen orange lights every week. They fly in formations of 3 in a triangular shape then shoot up in the sky. They are perefctly formed no engine noise and the distance between them is perfect.Once 1 of the orange shapes hovered above the woods near our house for 5 mins and then shot up in the sky..after years of not seeing anything these seem to be a common sight now.Ive seen chinese lanterns and these are no way similar, the objects i have seen have always been flying against the wind??
