Further Description of Sighting: We were sitting on the front porch and saw what looked like a helicopter coming toward us. We live near W117th near Bellaire.

I told my husband… “That’s one weird looking helicopter.” Within seconds we noticed it wasn’t a helicopter and was completely silent.

It was glowing very bright orange and appeared to be flickering slightly. It was so bright if there was a craft, we couldn’t make it out.

We only saw the brightness of the light. It traveled approximately 300-400mps across the sky. I walked off the porch to continue watching it and my husband at this point was standing and following it with his eyes.

I kept saying… “what the hell is that??” Why is it so orange? Our minds were racing as we watched it. We were ruling out all types of aircraft.

It was definitely nothing we’ve ever seen before and I’m a sky watcher. I live near a flight path of Hopkins airport, have seen many, many helicopters, etc.

It was nothing I could possibly begin to recognize or describe as anything we know in the sky. It continued in a straight line across the sky heading east.

It then just fizzled out as if the light went out. We both were extremely intrigued. I jumped online right away but haven’t been ably to find anyone else that saw it.

It’s not possible. If we saw it, someone else had to as well. We watched it for about a minute. Please email me if you’ve seen the same thing. I know we weren’t the only ones!

If you do contact a witness, please be respectful to them.

The object you saw sounds exactly the same as what I saw in Ireland last night. An orb of orange light, which I thought was also a helicopter but it couldn’t have been as it made no noise and had no visible outline. It was like a very bright light that fizzled out and then came back  brighter and then  completely disappeared. I also live near a flight path, there is  an international airport 10 mins up the road and as soon as a plane approached, the light literally disappeared before my eyes.

I keep reading about these Chinese Sky Lanterns. I really don’t think it’s possible. It was too large and way too bright to be a lantern. It wasn’t windy enough to go as fast as it was. I’m also seeing a lot of reports of the same thing that night in the UK. I’m really curious about what this could be and finding out more. It was definitely not a meteor or satellite. There doesn’t seem to be many reports from Cleveland and we watched it for a about a minute over a very populated area.

I saw a video on those Chinese Lanterns. There is no way! This is why: the wind seemed to have no effect on our object. The speed and altitude remained constant and it moved steadily, and on a straight line. What is interesting is that it was using the same path helicopters use!

Yes, Berean, exactly. It’s like saying it could possibly be an elephant or frog when it’s clearly a giraffe. There’s no way that it could have been a lantern. It was too bright almost so bright that it had it’s own glare around it. It was too bright to even be able to detect a shape of an object behind it if there was one. It was steady and there wasn’t enough wind to carry it the way it did. It went too fast to be a balloon type object. It went as fast as a helicopter would and you’re right, it was the same height in the sky, speed and path as a helicopter. We dismissed the helicopter possibility within seconds of seeing it. It’s impossible. It also was completely silent and over my head at one point. I watched this thing for a full minute. Not a sound. And my street is quiet. I’m curious and interested and so glad my husband saw it too. Did you see it in the 9pm hour? I’m wondering if we in fact saw the same exact thing. After reading many reports around UK, etc,. many report multiple lights coming together or flying together. We only saw one. But it’s strange that we didn’t even bother to turn our heads during or after to see if there was anything else. We just went right into the house after it fizzled out. As curious as I am, I’m surprised I didn’t continue to watch the sky…

I saw it around 8:00PM, while passing out Halloween candy, and two more people saw it with me. It was silent!!! One of the other witnesses says that when it passed in front of the moon, he saw a rotor.
Even remote control helicopters make an annoying little noise. This thing didn’t. And of course, RCs don’t travel such a long distance, and they are not supposed to fly above
residential areas at night, crossing the path of airliners. Dangerous/ illegal/ irresponsible or…ALIEN……???
    And at night too!

    My final comment:
Anyone trying to fly a lantern, should go to jail.
Anyone trying to fly an RC, at night, over a residential area should go to jail.
If the technology of a silent helicopter is a reality, then we are very advanced! ( but I doubt it); and they should not try to scare the public with it!
If this was alien…I would like to know, now!
    God Bless All
