Further Description of Sighting: Sitting on balcony at Comfort Inn, Myrtle Beach on Oct 13, 09. Sky was dark between 8&9 pm and weather was clear. One light appeared first and glowed for about 5 sec. Thought it was a flare at first. A few minutes later a second appeared followed by 3 or 4 more simultaneously.

This went on for approx an hour (maybe 30 in total) and I watched through binoculars. They moved north up the coast and then came back to the south. There was no visible trail from a flare cannon and no running lights to indicate a boat….plus a flare would burn longer.

If I had to guess, they were somewhere between 2-5 miles out and at least several thousand feet in the air; some being higher or closer than others, but there was really no point of reference.

End of sighting………I don’t do this for a living and have never seen anything like this before. Thanks.

Wow I have a simular story near where you are. Summer 2006 I was vacationing with my family in Sunset Beach near North Myrtle. I was out on the balcony talking on the phone when I noticed a little tiny light in the sky moving around. It would stop, zig-zag, dart up, dart left and right, it was a crazy sight. I then noticed that more lights were in the sky forming a line over the houses leading up to the tiny light way up. I grabbed my cousin to show her, neither of us had ever seen anything like it.
